What’s included in a BBL quote in Miami?
A comprehensive BBL quote should cover everything - surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, the facility, your compression garments, and follow-up visits. Lipo 360 is a separate procedure that can be added, and whether skin tightening belongs in the plan varies from patient to patient. At Snatched Plastic Surgery, two of our surgeons who perform BBLs are Dr Gary Vela and Dr Paul Boulos.
What you’re actually paying for
A comprehensive quote should include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, facility fees, garments, and post-op visits. The total depends on the amount of fat transferred, which can affect operating time, as well as any additional procedures. A BBL paired with Lipo 360 counts as two procedures, not one, and skin tightening varies from patient to patient. When you compare clinics, ask for the total, not the starting price. Some advertised prices exclude anesthesia and facility fees.
What a BBL really is
A BBL uses your own fat - no implants. The surgeon takes fat from your belly, flanks, back, or thighs with liposuction, processes it, and places it into the buttocks to build shape and volume. Because the transferred fat is your own, changes in your weight can affect the results over time. You need enough pinchable fat to work with, and you should be at a stable weight before surgery.
The safety rules that matter
A key safety rule is to place fat only in the layer just under the skin - not in the muscle [2]. Florida law goes further: since 2023, every BBL in the state must use ultrasound guidance, and the ultrasound video is added to the patient’s medical record [4].
What recovery feels like
You won’t sit directly on your buttocks for the first 2 to 3 weeks. After that, use a BBL pillow whenever you sit for 6–8 weeks, or until your surgeon advises otherwise. Most people with desk jobs return to work by week 2 and use a BBL pillow while seated. Light walking usually begins soon after surgery and may support recovery. Avoid strenuous exercise for 6–8 weeks, or until your surgeon clears you. Final results typically become apparent within 3–6 months.
The skinny BBL
Not everyone wants a dramatic result. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons flagged the ’skinny BBL’ trend in 2025: smaller transfers, 200 to 600 cc per side, aimed at shape and proportion instead of size [1]. It’s popular with active patients and with people rebuilding volume lost after GLP-1 weight loss.
AYON Body Contouring System
Snatched Plastic Surgery also offers the AYON Body Contouring System, an all-in-one platform from Apyx Medical that combines ultrasound-assisted fat removal with skin tightening in one session. The FDA cleared the system in 2025 [5]. It may be an option for patients seeking both contouring and skin tightening.
Frequently asked questions
Is a BBL safe?
Since 2018, surgeons have been required to place fat only under the skin, never into the muscle [2]. Florida law also requires ultrasound guidance for every BBL [4]. Choose a surgeon who follows these safety requirements.
When can I sit normally again?
Usually 6 to 8 weeks. Patients should avoid sitting directly on their buttocks for the first 2–3 weeks, then use a BBL pillow whenever they sit until their surgeon clears them. Desk workers are typically back at week 2 with the pillow. Patients can generally resume exercise after 6–8 weeks, with their surgeon’s approval.
How much of the fat actually stays?
Around 70% of the transferred fat remains, according to a 2026 study of 7,000 cases [3]. Your body reabsorbs 15 to 30% in the first six months, which is why surgeons transfer a little extra [3]. You’ll see the final shape between months 3 and 6.
What should a quote include?
A quote should include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia, facility fees, compression garments, and follow-up visits. If a quote seems much lower than others, check whether anesthesia and facility fees are included.
I’m slim - can I still get one?
Possibly. A ’skinny BBL’ - 200 to 600 cc per side for shape rather than volume - is intended for patients seeking a more subtle change, provided they have enough donor fat. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons documented the trend in 2025 [1]. You’ll still need to be a non-smoker and be at a stable weight.
